Rugby 2026

This sketchbook was created as part of a collaboration with the lovely folks at Rugby Art Gallery & Museum, designed as an accompaniment to the rugby collection, art gallery and archaeology exhibition.

I visited the gallery to explore the spaces and collections, choosing objects to highlight. The result is a colourful sketchbook for children and families to enjoy.

Open yellow notebook with drawing instructions, a sketch of a shoe, and handwritten text about drawing with a single line.
Illustration of a large, textured letter 'R' with a person leaning over it. The person has pink skin, blue hair, a red hat, gray pants, and pink shoes.
Stylized illustration of a woman with long red hair wearing a gray coat, red boots, and holding a gray umbrella.
Open children's activity book with underground object drawing game, featuring large white outlined shapes on dark background on the left page and similar white shapes on a pinkish background on the right page, held against a mustard yellow wall.
A yellow horizontal line
Sketches showing the process of developing an illustrated activity book for children. It features rough sketches for each page.
Illustration of a girl with pink hair and a bow, smiling and looking up, inside the shape of the letter 'G' which is designed to look like a concrete or stone structure. There is a blue object at the top resembling a faucet or spout.

I created initial thumbnail sketches which I shared with the client. These depicted all of the pages in sketch format. They really help to visualise the final result.

The finished design only slightly changed from this initial concept, however we revised the design over 3 iterations to tweak the compositions, choice of wording and colours.
